about

When I was a little boy my family lived on the last block of Quarrier St. beside the State Capitol building in my hometown, Charleston, WV. During Spring and Summer, my parents would take my brother and sisters and me to play on the massive, grassy lawns of the Capitol grounds. We would chase fireflies and run free without a care, as only children can. This song is my attempt to capture the memories of those moments. The song was also an experiment of sorts. I wrote it about 10 minutes prior to making the recording. The challenge I made to myself was that every track recorded had to be a first take, so if some spots sound a bit rough, that is why. This goes out to my brother, Brad, and my sisters, Char and Kathy. We have made some beautiful memories together. I hope you enjoy the song.
