about
Song number thirteen. This is another Ride Band song we recorded at the Recording Workshop. We didn't play this live very often and I'm not sure why. I always liked the song a great deal. I thought the melody on the chorus was really unique and memorable. Another highlight is the massively great lead guitar Greg Wegmann plays on the track. I hope you enjoy it.
lyrics
I spent some time looking back over you and I,
Back to where we began.
To find the moment that created the weak link,
That broke in the end.
I pulled us up by the roots,
And picked them clean.
Felt the weight in my hands,
The weight pulled me down, down all over again.
I want to close my eyes to you,
I want to close my eyes.
CHORUS:
So here's to last goodbyes.
I wonder how you'd react if you could see me now,
I wonder what you would say.
I doubt you'd welcome me with open arms,
If you were here today.
With me, a good day is spent on my reconstruction,
Doing whatever I can.
A bad day is letting my memory,
Burn the building plans.
I should close my eyes to you,
I should close my eyes.
CHORUS:
So here's to last goodbyes,
Here's to last goodbyes.
Take your memories and hang them to dry.
So here's to you and here's to me,
And here's to the day.
I take your memory from it's pedestal,
And let it walk away.
I'm going to close my eyes to you,
I'm going to close my eyes.
CHORUS:
So here's to last goodbyes,
Here's to last goodbyes.
Here's to last goodbyes,
Here's to last goodbyes.
